Subject:
Preflight Inspection of Rudder Cables
To:
All Kitfox™ Owners
From:
Denney Aerocraft Company
A
Kitfox™ builder reports that during the second annual inspection of his aircraft
he discovered a frayed rudder cable. His aircraft has about 300 hours total
time.
The
cable had worn through the plastic bushing and rubbed on the steel rudder cable
guide under the seat.
A
broken rudder cable and subsequent loss of rudder control could have very
serious consequences.
We
recommend that each Kitfox™ owner include as part of his preflight
inspection a very thorough examination of the rudder cables.
