BULLETIN #4
SUBJECT:
FE-30 ELEVATOR WELDMENT
TO:
ALL Kitfox™ OWNERS
FROM:
DENNEY AEROCRAFT CO.
Recently, one builder
who has flown his Model 1 Kitfox™ about 400 hours noticed a crack on the elevator
weldment. The crack developed on the spar of the FE—30 at the inboard junction
of the trailing edge on the pilot side.
Since this juncture
is covered by fabric, you should check this weldment very closely before further
flight. Close inspection of this juncture should be a part of every pre-f light
inspection.
We have designed
gussets that need to be welded to the top and bottom of this spar-trailing edge
juncture on both sides of the elevator control horn. We strongly recommend you
do this as soon as possible.
All aircraft shipped
from the factory on or after September 30, 1989 and beginning with serial
numbers #485 will include this modification
We will provide the
gussets to you upon your request, for $10.00 which includes mailing costs.
If you need assistance in any way, please call
customer service, before returning any items to Denney Aerocraft
Co. Please obtain a Return Goods Authorization (RMA) number from customer
service.
