SERVICE BULLETIN #31

SUBJECT:               Aircraft Identification Plates

APPLICABILITY:      All Kitfox™ aircraft manufactured between 5/91 and 8/93.

COMPLIANCE:        At the next condition inspection, or during construction, if not already installed.

At the next condition inspection, inspect the aircraft identification plate material to determine if it was made from aluminum or from stainless steel. Inspect the aircraft identification plate installation to insure that it complies with FARs 45.11 and 45.13. Kitfox's manufactured within the above mentioned time frame were sent out with aluminum Identification Plates which do not meet the requirements of FAR 45.11(a).

SkyStar Aircraft Corporation wishes to make sure our customers are in compliance with FAA regulations. Please mark and install the enclosed stainless steel data plate in accordance with the attached copy FARs 45.11 and 45.13. A suggested method of installing the Identification Plate to comply with 45.11(a) and 45.11(d) would be to glue an aluminum plate onto the inside of the fuselage fabric, underneath the tail access cover. The stainless steel Identification Plate could then be riveted to the aluminum plate such that it would be legible to a person on the ground. For alternative methods of mounting the Identification Plate, contact your local FAA district office.
