MICHIGAN / KITFOX

I bought my Kitfox Model 2 (Denny Aerocraft Company kit #374) in Spring of 2004 from its original owner-builder, George Dendzel of Royal Oak, Michigan. The kit had been delivered at that infamous 95% stage of construction. With the help of some of his Detroit area friends, we loaded the Fox in a 22' enclosed rental truck and hauled it North where I commenced an 18 month effort to complete George's project, now dubbed "Lola" (after the temptress who always gets what she wants). After a final inspection by technical advisor Doug Bell, from Cadillac, Michigan EAA chapter 678 and thanks in great measure to George's fine workmanship and scrupulous documentation, I was able to obtain a special airworthiness certificate in June 2005. Lola's taxi testing began in July and her first flight took place from Big Rapids, MI - Roben-Hood airport (RQB) on August 5, 2005. 40 hour flight testing was concluded in early spring 2006.  In August 2007, N99KX made her first appearance at Airventure '07 following a thrilling yet uneventful flight over lake Michigan.
